More crap spews from Clinton Campaign
CNN Washington Bureau
(CNN) -- Sen. Barack Obama on Tuesday called a comment by Geraldine Ferraro, a top Clinton fundraiser, that he was a major presidential contender only because he is a black man "patently absurd."

Comments by former Rep. Geraldine Ferraro are drawing criticism from the Obama campaign.
"I don't think Geraldine Ferraro's comments have any place in our politics or in the Democratic Party. They are divisive," he told the Allentown Morning News.
"I think anybody who understands the history of this country knows they are patently absurd. And I would expect that the same way those comments don't have a place in my campaign, they shouldn't have a place in Senator Clinton's, either," he added.
Earlier, Obama's top strategist, David Axelrod, called for Clinton to sever ties with Ferraro.
He said the comment by Ferraro, a former New York representative -- coupled with Clinton's "own inexplicable unwillingness" to deny that he [Obama] was a Muslim during a recent interview -- was part of "an insidious pattern that needs to be addressed."
Axelrod was reacting to a comment by Ferraro, the Democratic Party's vice presidential nominee in 1984, that appeared in the Daily Breeze of Torrance, California, on Friday.

Tonight, 8 ET
"If Obama was a white man, he would not be in this position. And if he was a woman, he would not be in this position. He happens to be very lucky to be who he is. And the country is caught up in the concept," Ferraro told the newspaper.
Ferraro said Clinton had suffered because the press "has been uniquely hard on her. It's been a very sexist media. Some just don't like her. The others have gotten caught up in the Obama campaign."
Axelrod called on the New York senator to drop Ferraro from her finance committee.
"When you wink and nod at offensive statements, you're really sending a signal to your supporters that anything goes," Axelrod said.
Ferraro could not be reached for comment.
Clinton told The Associated Press that she did not agree with Ferraro's comments.
"It is regrettable that any of our supporters on both sides, because we've both had that experience, say things that kind of veer off into the personal," she told the AP. "We ought to keep this on the issues. There are differences between us. There are differences between our approaches on health care, on energy, on our experience, on our results that we've produced for people. That's what this campaign should be about."
Don't Miss
The former congresswoman is the latest Clinton surrogate to launch a firestorm with comments that related to Obama's heritage or ethnicity.
Clinton's husband, former President Bill Clinton, drew sharp criticism from black leaders for a series of comments he made before the South Carolina primary, including comparing Obama's campaign to the Rev. Jesse Jackson's 1984 run.
Former Nebraska Sen. Bob Kerrey, a major Clinton backer, said several times that an Obama presidency would improve the world's image of the U.S. because of the Illinois senator's Muslim roots.
Obama, however, said Kerrey's comments were intended to highlight Obama's Muslim heritage in voters' minds.
And shortly before the Texas primary, 84-year-old Clinton supporter Adelfa Callejo told CBS 11 News in Dallas, Texas, that Obama would have trouble attracting Latino support because he was African-American.
"When blacks had the numbers, they didn't do anything to support us," Callejo said. "They always used our numbers to fulfill their goals and objectives, but they never really supported us, and there's a lot of hard feelings about that. I don't think we're going to get over it anytime soon."
Last month, when Hillary Clinton was asked if she would reject and denounce Callejo's remarks, she said, "People get to express their opinions," adding that "a lot of folks have said really unpleasant things about me over the course of this campaign."
Later, her campaign released a statement saying that she had been unaware of the substance of the remarks during that interview and both denounced and rejected them.
Obama has faced his own headaches. Foreign policy adviser Samantha Power ended her connection with his campaign last week after telling a Scottish interviewer that Clinton was a "monster."
Power also made remarks about Obama's Iraq war policy that were used by the Clinton campaign in recent attacks.Saturday, March 8, 2008

Wake up world!
Last week, in this space I wrote that Bill Clinton’s business dealings around the world could create a conflict of interest with respect to Hillary’s position in the U.S. Senate and her candidacy for President of the United States. This week, Hillary showed us all why we should be very concerned.
According to the New York Post: “Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton loaned her campaign $5 million from her personal bank account late last month, officials acknowledged today — a surprising twist in the deadlocked race for the Democratic nomination…The move came after Clinton’s fundraising for January paled in comparison to rival Sen. Barack Obama’s – he raised a staggering $32 million to her $13.5 million, officials said.”
Now, candidates have from time to time drawn significant funds from their personal accounts to cover campaign expenses. But Hillary Clinton is no ordinary candidate and this is no ordinary campaign. Her husband is a former president who uses his history in the White House to leverage business deals in an unprecedented fashion. Since he left office in 2001, the former president has traveled the world accumulating tens of millions of dollars in speaking fees from foreign interests (such as Dubai and Chinese communist interests). He also seems to have struck business deals with companies that don’t require him to work or to assume any financial risk.
For example, The Wall Street Journal reported just a couple of weeks ago that Bill Clinton is due to receive a $20 million buyout from billionaire businessman Ron Burkle as he severs a relationship with Burkle’s Yucaipa Companies. By Burkle’s own estimate, Clinton averaged about 500 hours per year, or 10 hours per week, on the Yucaipa business without making any financial investment. To say that’s a sweetheart deal is a gross understatement.
Question: What does Burkle expect in return for his generosity? And what about Bill Clinton’s other financial angels, many of whom reside overseas?
As we and other critics have noted, given that Hillary shares a bank account with her husband, payments to Bill Clinton are, in effect, payments to her. It was bad enough that she was a senator on the indirect take, but this is especially troubling now that Hillary has decided to use these assets
